Our Mission

Welcome to Young World Athletic Association!

At Young World Athletic Association, our mission is to provide challenging educational experiences using basketball as a vehicle to capture and maintain the attention of youth. We aim to instill life skills, develop value systems, work ethics, teamwork, player concepts, and commitment to help individuals become the best versions of themselves, contributing positively to their families and society. Our organization focuses on reclaiming the lives of at-risk youth and young men aged 7 to 22 by offering safe, nurturing, drug-free environments, educational services, and developmental opportunities. We provide restorative programs for young men who have been incarcerated, offering life skills training, job placement, and mentorship opportunities to support their growth and development.

Our flagship program, the Young World Basketball League, has been instrumental in providing services to over seven hundred youth annually. We took a brief hiatus from 2014 to 2024, during which gang violence escalated in the absence of our program, impacting the community significantly. We collaborate with local schools and community centers, host events and tournaments, network with influencers and community leaders, attend local events and expos, and showcase testimonials to promote our program and engage with potential participants effectively.

One of our key program objectives is MOE-RUNS – NYC, which focuses on teaching athletes how to think the game and play in breakdown situations. Through drills and training sessions in 2 on 2, 3 on 3, and 4 on 4 combinations, we aim to enhance players’ decision-making skills and situational awareness on the court.

Join us at Young World Athletic Association as we empower youth, build strong communities, and create opportunities for personal and athletic growth.
